SPE 220 eportfolio Assignment

Standard #10 Collaboration

The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.Possible indicators: Candidates collaborate with learners to clearly identify learning expectations and understand learner needs. Candidates work with school professionals to plan and jointly facilitate learning to meet the needs of diverse learners. Candidates collaborate with families to establish ongoing communication and learning expectations. Candidates take responsibility for contributing to and advancing the profession.

I chose the SPE 220 artifact “Classroom Behavior Management Plan” to align to Common Core Standard #10 because it collaborates with learners to clearly identify learning expectations through rules and procedures (as listed in the CBMP). It also shows collaboration with school professionals in listing a crisis plan and meets the needs of diverse learners in the consequences section. For example, this section offers options such as: choosing a “brain break” video.

SPE 220 was very helpful in expending my pedagogical knowledge by teaching me how to deal with different behaviors in a classroom. Having a crisis plan and an action plan are the two most effective and important parts of the plan. It really made me think about what consequences and rules I would implement in my own classroom. A statement of purpose, as well as procedures, are very important as they ground you and structure how a classroom will be run to align with metacognition. From a smooth day to a day with multiple challenges coming up, this assignment taught me that being prepared with a classroom behavior management plan is essential.
